A wide country as China never stops to surprise its visitors, offering much more than a monotonous tourist experience, indeed thanks to the Yangtze river and Yangtze Cruise it is possible book a cruise travelling along various remote and modern destinations at the same time, reviving the historical traditions and developments of this unique route. It is recommended to start the cruise from Shanghai, Shanghai flights. The Yangtze from Chinese “Long River” represents not only the China ‘greatest river, but also a main transport route of the past. The river extends itself for more than 4’000 miles, reaching the same size of the Mississippi. In fact it is the fifth largest river in the world (by volume) measuring ten times the Nile.

As previously mentioned the Yangtze has constituted a fundamental transportation path, promoting the development of several cities along its banks. Chinese civilization first developed along the Yellow river (Huang He) and shortly thereafter spread to two other major areas, the lower Yangtze basin and the rich agricultural lands of Sichuan covering an area of almost a thousand km. The Westernized name Yangtze come from the mix of the two rivers Yangzhou and Zhenjiang called Yangzi, as this has been the first name heard by British explorers and missionaries, that finally has stuck to it. The other reason of its name is that, the river’s name was in honour of the emperor Yang. However most of the locals are not familiar with the English version of the name, struggling to understand the word Yangtze, for this reason tourists should call the river with its proper mandarin terms “Chang Jiang”.

The river stretches along many cities starting from Shanghai, which represents the financial capital of the modern China, as it has started to develop only in the 19th century. Meanwhile destinations such Wuxi, Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, Nanjing important as rival of Beijing, Wuhan, Yichang also known as the getaway to the Gorges and finally Chongqing one of the china’s largest cities, all the above destinations give the opportunity to revive China’s old traditions experiencing a unique holiday. In top of this the river not only reaches Chongqing as its last destination but it stretches far beyond, indeed the river has the headwaters deep in the Tibetan mountains. Indeed more adventurous tourists, it is possible to follow the river much further than Chongqing. However visitors on the Yunman tourist trail are able to see some of the upper reaches of the close river Lijiang. Part of the Yangtze constitutes one of the three rivers at the “Three Parallel Rivers National Park”, a UNESCO World heritage located in Yunnan. Furthermore the Yangtze passing by several ancient cities gives the opportunity to visit other main destinations that do not sit on its banks, but easily accessible. One of those is certainly Hangzhou which is not only the capital of Zheijang near Shanghai but it is also connected by the “Grand Canal” to Wuxi and Suzhou. The latter represents a must-see attraction in China, indeed the city of Suzhou characterized by its gardens, and canals, is one of the most traditional city out there, offering spectacular flowers and plant collections including the typical Bonsai. Tourists should also visit Chengu, the capital of Sichuan as it represents one of the Yangtze’s tributaries.

The best way to visit those destinations is a cruise through the Yangtze River, but also the high speed rail thanks to improving quality gives the opportunity to visit several of the city mentioned above such as Nanjing-Wuxi-Suzhou-Shanghai-Hangzhou routes. For further information tourist should consult China Tours.

When we’re choosing a place for traveling , its sightseeings ,history and  culture always being accounted, usually, its local food palys an important role . As all we have knowned, Guangzhou tour is famous for its various kinds of distinctive food. ,zhouzhuang is famous for its traditional culture , but  the food in zhouzhuang can not be ignored. Around the world , China tour is famed for its food. Zhouzhuang has been boasting fertile land, abundant resources, and delicious food since ancient times. It would be a pity not to have tasted the local food while visiting there.  Now , some of the most famous food in Zhouzhuang will be introduced.

Fisrtly, I will introduced the most special food , “Pig’s Hoofs of Wansan”  .This kind of food originated in Shen’s family in the Ming Dynasty which was used to entertain guests. Shen Wansan, a renowned rich man south of the Yangtze River, had used a pig’s hoof as an indispensable dish to treat distinguished guests at his banquets, thus earning the dish its current name. The well-chosen pig’s hoof with specially-made flavourings is cooked or steamed with water in a terrine for 24 hours. Thigh of Wansan Pig is soft and easy to chew, saline and sweet, catering to all tastes, delicious but not greasy.

Secondly, Pottage of Water Shields and Perch.will be introduced. The local perch there has always been praised for its tender meat, freshness and absence of small bones. Water shields are aquatic vegetables that grow in the riverways of this water town. It is a perfect match to cook perch with the fresh leaves and stems of the water shields. In addition, this local dish enjoys the reputation as one of the three most famous dishes south of the Yangtze River. And there is a story that Zhanghan , a bel-esprit in Jin Dynasty, quit his job and come home just because he miss this food.

Finally, it is turn for Granny’s Tea.When visitors come to Zhouzhuang, they may notice some elderly women gathering together to drink tea. However, few people know the true story behind tea-drinking and tea-making in this town. All the people in the town are fond of tea, but they are fastidious about their tea-making methods. For instance, tea sets must be old, water is required to be boiled in a pottery jar and the fuel should be either bamboo or tea tree branches. The correct way of making tea is like this: put some tea leaves in a teapot or cup, pour a little hot water, wait a few minutes, and then infuse boiling water to make the tea. When people sample tea, they often as drink and eat melon seeds, tender boiled beans, candied fruits and pastries among other delicacies. Tea made in this fashion is called “Granny’s tea”.

There are also many other kinds of food. Such us Wansan cake, Tongzi cucumber, Shrimp, Sanweiyuan  and so on .

The long history of the folkways and folk customs makes Zhouzhuang a famous scenic spot worthy of its reputation. Millions of visitors from home and abroad visit the town each year. Zhouzhuang is shining brightly south of the Yangtze River with its surrounding water, calmness and tranquillity, and its profound cultural heritage.

The Three Gorges are nestled in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. You won’t miss it when planning the Yangtze Cruise of your China Tours.

The Three Gorges have showed the magic workings of nature with their marvelous and beautiful mountains and waters. The grotesque peaks and rocks on the two sides of the Three Gorges are accounting the great changes taking place in the region in the past billion years, and the variegated wracks of lives during the past hundreds of millions of years. There have been so many visitors attracted here by the charming thousand-year-long history of the region, the great ancient relics of human civilization, and the mysterious folk tales.

Sandwiched between the mountains on the mid part of the Yangtze River, the Three Gorges runs across Fengjie and Wushan Mountain in Sichuan Province and Badong, Zigui and Yichang in Hubei Province, extending 193 kilometers long to include Qutang Gorge, Wuxia Gorge and Xilingxia Gorge. City of White Emperor in Feng Jie is the vital passage of the west part of the Three Gorges. Nanjinguan in Yichang is the important gate way of the east part. Along the banks of the Yangtze River, the high peaks rise in emerald verdure, overhanging rocks tower into the clouds, dangerous cliffs seem to reach the sky, rocks are jagged and grotesque, waterfalls are spraying and sparkling, clouds and mists are curling, rapids and torrents are seething, and fierce waves are deep, serene and exquisite.

Currently the Three Gorges region is most famous for the Three Gorges Dam. The Three Gorges Dam is located at a place called Sandouping in the middle of the Xiling Gorge. The dam cuts off the flow of the river, and therefore the water level in the Qutang, Wuxia and the western portion of the Xiling gorges has risen. Although the dam changes the scenery of the Three Gorges (the gorges is less narrow and the mountains appear lower), as the mountains reach several thousand feet above the river, the gorges still offer spectacular views of the surrounding cliffs. Besides, the increase in width of the Gorges allows larger ships through the gorges and river traffic of all kinds will also increase.

Qutang Gorge

From east to west, Qutang Gorge measures 8 kilometers, starting from Baidicheng and ending at Daixi township. With vertical cliffs of some thousand meters high as its two flanks, the Qutang Gorge is only a few dozens of meters wide just like a narrow gate way. With swash and rumble, the surging Yangtze River pours into the gateway with great momentum. Looking up towards the tops of towering precipitous mountains along the gorge, one sees from a boat only a narrow strip of clouds and sky, but under foot the River tears on violently. Qutang Gorge is outstanding for its grandeur and magnificence.

 Wuxia Gorge

Wuxia Gorge extends 40 kilometers from the mouth of Daning River of Wushan Mountain in the west to Guandukou of Badong in the east. The Wuxia Gorge is gifted with exquisite peaks and lush mountains and ranges. It’s deep and serene with changeable weather. The rolling river twists and turn and boats zigzag their way along, as if cruising in a fantastic gallery. The twelve peaks of Wushan Mountain all rise to the blue sky. They are endowed with various fascinating shapes. Among them, the most fabulous is the Peak of Goddess. It pierces through the heaven, and towers over the Yangtze River. A protruding rock of the Peak has the shape of slim girl shrouded in clouds and mist faintly visible as if clad in fine gauze dress, looking attractive and exding tenderness and love.

Xilingxia Gorge

Xilingxia Gorge measures 75 kilometers from Xiangxikou to Nanjinguan. The whole Gorge area is covered with high mountains, gullies, dangerous shoals and hidden reefs of various sizes. The best-known perilous shoal is Qing Shoal. It’s formed by collapsed craggy cliffs. Surging waves and rapid currents chum over the shoal embedded with rocks and stones here and there, and then drop two meters in elevation. Ships go downstream over the shoal at an arrow speed, but up the shoal is as difficult as climbing a steep hill.

Now viewing the Gorges properly can only be done on a river cruise. If you are interested in such Nature’s Gift and wonderful Chinese landscape, please book your China Flights and come to the Three Gorges.

Have you ever experienced a cruise in China? If the answer is “no”, why not book with China Flights and explore yourself on China Tours.

It is a well-known fact that China is located in the east of Asia; and with its vast territory and abundant resources, it will give you more surprises than you could imagine. The most famous river in China is the Yangtze River, which is located in the south of China. With a length of 6397 kilometers, the Yangtze River is the longest river in Asia, and the third longest in the world, after the Nile in Africa and the Amazon in Latin America. Together with the Yellow River, they are known as the Mother Rivers in China.

The most attractive feature of the Yangtze River is that it goes through many different provinces, such as Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing; a total of 11 provinces. And as a result, as you travel along the river, you will enjoy the different landscapes, from peaceful waters to rapids, and appreciate the different Chinese minorities’ lifestyles. However, for most newcomers, it will be difficult to travel here as they don’t know the local customs or traditions. Therefore a tour agency which offers cruise packages is a good choice for them. And here I recommend a famous China travel agency called China Youth Travel Service (CYTS), the most popular and reliable travel agency in China. With its talent and technology, it is committed to providing a high standard of services to its customers. For more information you can go to www.chinatraveldepot.com.

On the website of CYTS, you can find more competitive prices by comparing different services offered by different enterprises, and therefore save on energy and money. For example, if you are going to travel to the Yangtze River and you have no idea how to plan your itinerary, you can go to CYTS for help. Here you will find different itineraries with more detailed information. One of the optional itineraries is From Chongqing to YichangThis itinerary is known as a gold line of navigation. It is the best scenic part of Yangtze River to visit; its shining beauties keep attracting tourists from all over the world. Mountains, gorges, hills, plains, like a painted corridor filled with historic legend, this trip will provide you with an amazing, unique experience. Option two for the itinerary is from Chongqing to Wuhan.

With this itinerary, you can enjoy another scenic part of the Yangtze River which really is the idyllic life, right out of a storybook. Between Wuhan to Yichang, you can breathe the country air; hear cows mooing; birds chirping; buffalos grunting and cooing doves. Itinerary three is from Chongqing to Shanghai. Here you can have an in depth view of the Three Gorges region. This trip brings travelers on an intriguing journey, a leisurely but thorough sightseeing experience along the Yangtze River and Three Gorges. You will see a vast array of boats carrying passengers and commuters across the “Long River-Great”, you may see a conveyor belt loading a barge, trucks dumping coal onto a barge, three wheelers carrying cargo down to the shore and coolies hand carrying sacks onto a boat. This is a dichotomy of Chinese industrialization in a micro view. Everything I have mentioned above is only a small part of the services CYTS offers; there are also detailed plans for your whole journey. Choosing CYTS will definitely give you a perfect china travel.

Personal Experience about Accommodation and Transportation for Three Gorges Tour

We all know that the suitable seasons for Three Gorges Tour are spring and autumn in China Tours. And the most part of our travel fares are spent on accommodation and transportation. So, here I want to share my personal experience about these.

How to go there and which kind of transport should you take? Undoubtedly, it is the China Airlines. And there are two airports.

Jiangbei Airport, Chongqing

Chongqing is a city with mountainous area. So traveling by plane is a safe and effective way. And Chongqing has direct flights to more than 40 cities in the country. After the end of trip to Chongqing, you can fly directly to Urumqi, Xinjiang; Kunming, Yunnan; Lhasa, Tibet to continue your trip to southwest.

Moreover, Jiangbei Airport is in Two-road Town, Yubei, Chongqing, where is 23 km away from the downtown. And there are highways directly access to the city center. You can get special car of Civil Aviation sent to the Jiangbei Airport in Fire Station near Shangqing Temple.

Three Gorges Airport, Yichang

Three Gorges Airport has opened 20 domestic routes, involving Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Chongqing, Shandong, Henan and other developed open city. Today, the Three Gorges Airport has become one of the important tourist airports domestically and also the important airport that served for the Three Gorges Project.

By the way, Three Gorges Airport is 26 km away from the city. You can take a taxi to there. And its airport shuttle bus starts off from Qingjiang Hotel 2 hours before the flight taking off.

Things above are the ways for your arrival. Next is about your way on the trip.

Water transport

It is strongly recommended and common to go for a sail and go sightseeing when pulling in to the scenic shore. The advantage of this is that you can leave the transport, accommodation, catering to the cruise ships staff. This could remove the pain to run around and the trouble to find a hotel firstly when arriving at each place so that you can get a more relaxing trip in the whole process. Surely ships pull in to each scenic shore along Yangtze River.

People who take the Three Gorges Cruises usually select the “Chongqing – Yichang (or Yichang – Chongqing)” section, stopping along the way Fuling, Fengdu, Zhong County, Wanzhou, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wushan and Badong, Mau Ping and so on. Ordinary cruise is divided into five grades of shipping space, ranging from state-space until ordinary seats. And the full fares vary from 180 yuan (ordinary seat) to 2,100 yuan (state) and the fare includes admission tickets as well as some shore scenic spots. In addition, the Three Gorges navigation lines have some luxury cruise ship routes, such as the Victoria series, the Yangtze Angel series, Yangtze Princess series and so on. They have more luxurious facilities, including meals on board. Of course, fares are more expensive. The whole tour itinerary generally takes about 3 days (due to the 1 day difference between fair current and counter current).

Notes: Cruise fares and journey time for upstream and downstream water vary, so in the same range, it is normal that ticket prices and sailing time between downstream and upstream sailing are different. Generally price for downstream sailing is higher than the upstream while upstream sailing takes one more day than downstream sailing.(of the Three Gorges section).

Where should we get accommodation?

The most comfortable way to visit the Three Gorges is by cruise ship to enjoy the river view and you can land every scenic spot. It makes you not only remove from the daily pain of change to find another hotel but also enjoy a different landscape out of the window for each day.

Cruises have different prices and soft hardware facilities for their various classes and shipping space. Luxury cruise ships, such as the Victoria series, the Yangtze River series, the Ambassador series, look like the moving water luxury hotel, facilities comparable to the star hotels, comfortable and convenient with no major differences in the land of life. Of course, you have to pay a lot. The whole price (Chongqing – Yichang section, 3 days) is about 2000 – 3000 yuan (Standard Room mid-price), including restaurants and attractions tickets. Due to the different ordinary space and facilities, prices in ordinary cruises vary greatly and do not include meals on board.

If you want to have more specific info about the flights, you can also contact Air China.

I believe most travelers are interested not only in the history and culture but also the landscapes of one country. Among the landscapes mountains and rivers are the most commonly recommended attractions by travel agencies. In fact, mountains and rivers provide us not only with their unique appearances but also their underlying history and culture. Many foreign travelers come to China for its long history and splendid culture. They usually explore China during their china travel  either Tibet Tours or Guangzhou Tours by visiting historical sites or cultural relics. I suggest these travelers to see mountains and rivers in China as they can open a new window into Chinese culture. In this article I will introduce five main rivers in China. I hope it can be helpful for those on China Tours.

 1. Yangtze River (Chang Jiang)

Yangtze River is the longest river in China and the third longest river in the world following the Nile in Africa and the Amazon in South America. With a length of 6397 kilometers it originates from the glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau in Qinghai, flows eastward across the southwest, central and east parts of China and finally into the East China Sea. It provides drinking water for Chinese people living along the river. Therefore it is called with the Yellow River “Mother Rivers”. The most famous scenery along the Yangtze River is the Three Gorges which extends from Baidicheng in the west to Yichang in the east. It consists of the Qutang Gorge, the Wuxia Gorge and the Xiling Gorge and form a typical river-type scenic area.

 2. The Yellow River (Huang He)

The Yellow River is the second longest river in China and the fifth longest one in the world. It is honored as the cradle of Chinese civilization as its basin is the birthplace of the northern Chinese civilizations and was the most prosperous region in early Chinese history. It originates from the Bayan Har Mountains in Qinghai, flows through Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Shandong and finally joins the Bo Sea.
