‘The emerald of China is Yunnan; the diamond of Yunnan is Yuxi’. Yuxi is the hometown of the famous Chinese musician Nieer. It is the source of Hongta Mountain. And it also is called as the Watertown in plateau.
Best Time to Visit Yuxi
The beat time to visit Yuxi is summer and autumn. Most parts of Yuxi are the inland plateau subtropical climate. But the valley of Yuanjiang in the south belongs to tropical and subtropical monsoon climate. It has year-round spring, while the wet and dry seasons are distinct. As there is a large temperature difference, you should bring a coat to stay warm in spring and autumn and a winter coat is necessary in winter.
Yuxi Best Routes
The first day: take bus in the Eastern Kunming Bus Station to Chengjiang County. It will take about 2 hours. Then transfer bus to Luchong Village which is the center of Fuxian Lake Scenic Spot. It only takes 20 minutes. You could feast your eyes on the sceneries of Luchong. Take yacht to visit Gushan Island, and then visit Jieyu Rock. Then take bus in Jiangchuang to Yuxi.
The second day: visit Yuxi cigarette factory and Hongtan Mountain. After the visit take No.2 bus to Nieer Park in Phoenix Road. The former residence of Nieer and the Nieer Memorial Hall are in there. Last you could take bus back to the Western Kunming Bus Station.

Fuxian Lake: the ticket price of Luchong Village is 10 Yuan. The pool in Bijia Villa is free of charge for the guests. The ticket price of Jieyu Rock is 2 Yuan; the ticket price of Biyun is 2 Yuan; Gushan Island’s ticket price is 15 Yuan.
Ailao Mountain: the ticket price of Chama Gudao (the ancient road which was used to transport tea and horses) is 5 Yuan; the manor of Longxi aristocratic family is 10 Yuan; Nanen Fall is free. The opening time of it is from 8:00 to 19:00.
Xiu Mountain: 15 Yuan. The opening time is from 7:00 to 18:00
The traffic of Yuxi
Every day there is a train starts at 4:45 p.m. from Kunming to Yuxi. It takes about 2 hours and 50 minutes. The train leaves Yuxi to Kunming at 8:00 a.m. And there are two bus stations in Yuxi. The Central Bus Station is in Shanghu Road. The buses in the station drive to cities in Yunnan. The Western Bus Station is in the Qixing Street. The buses in the station drive to counties in Yuxi. Take taxi in Yuxi is very cheap. It only costs 5 Yuan no matter how far you go, so long as your destination is in the city. The local buses are very convenient. The price of all the buses is 0.5Yuan. As there is no conductor, you have to tender the exact fare.
