The Town of Xingping is situated in the northeast of Yangshuo County Town in the City of Guilin of Guangxi Province. It is on the upper reaches of the Lijiang River about 25 kilometres from the county town. Xingping features hilly landscape, its east side higher than the west side. The western area of the town is of lava landscape with mountains in the shape of sharp swords at both banks of the Lijiang River. The eastern part is the Haopinglong Mountains. The slopes are steep and the majority of the mountains are more than 400 metres above the sea level with hundreds of them of an elevation no less than one thousand. The highest among them is the Haopinglong Peak of 1701 metres. It is also the roof of the Yangshuo County. The Lijiang River, the Dayuan River and the Hujiayuan River flow through the county.
The Best Time to Visit Xingping
From May to October the weather is sunny and clear with little rain and is perfect for outdoor activities. The high season is from July to August.
Xingping Best Routes
The Jinghua Reaches of the Lijiang River by boat—the Painted Hills of Nine Horses, the Reflections on the Yellow Cloth, Beauty in the Mirror. Get off the boat and visit the Big Banyan, Mount Moon, Pool of the Dragons, Jianshan Temple, Qishi Palace (the palace of precious stones), then back to Guilin.
Xingping Ticket

- Air-conditioned tour bus for organized tour, Santana or 11-seat coach for independent tourists. The chartered vehicle can only take you to the spots listed in the schedule. If you want to travel to other spots, the fare will go up accordingly. Please inform your guide and chauffeur in advance if you have a personal sight-seeing plan in case of inconvenience.

Xingping Transportation Routes
The water routes
Take a boat at the Port of Xingping and travel upstream. You will see, in turn, the picture printed on the back of a 20-yuan RMB note, the Chaoban Mountain, the Reflections on the Yellow Cloth, the Mountains of the Seven Fairies, the Painted Hills of Nine Horses, and the Xialong Scenery. Or, you can take the boat downstream and view the Biluoqing Pool, Mount Fish, Mount Gold Ingot, and the sight of the Fishing Village. These two routes will offer you an enjoyable trip through the major attractions of the Lijiang River. If you want to take your time in the sight-seeing and fully take in the beauty of the place, you can choose to schedule two days for the water routes.
The land routes
- The Lotus Cave—Xingfuyuan Reservoir—Da Yuan Wood Farm
- The Luotian Rock—The Rhinoceros Rock—The West Pool
(You can either take a travel bus or ride a bike for the above two routes.)
- A hiking trip by the river. Start off at the Bridge of Xingping and go on to the Painted Hills of Nine Horses. The lush mountain bamboo forest will offer you much coolness and tranquility.
- A direct journey from Fuli to Yangshuo.
