The altitude of West Peak is 2082 meters, being one of the main peaks of Huashan Mountain and got its name from the location. Besides, because the huge rock on West Peak looks like lotus petals, most literators in ancient times called it “Lotus Peak”. West Peak is a complete huge rock made by nature. There are precipitous rock faces and sheer cliffs in the northwest side, the tall and straight shape is the representative of the shape of Huashan Mountain.
The ridge on the southern cliff of West Peak is connected with South Peak. The mountain ridge is over 300 meters long and looks like a sinuous huge dragon, which is called by “Quling”. It is also called “Small Black Dragon Ridge” and one of the most famous steep roads on Huashan Mountain. The tiptop in the north is called “Xishilou Peak”. The Yanggong Tower on the peak was built by general Yang Hucheng and there is an inscription written by him on the tower. The rock under the tower has an original handwriting of a famous calligrapher Wangduo.Another wonderful view of West Peak is Lotus Hole, also called ” Lotus Stone”, which looks like lotus petals.
