There are two ways for you to reach Tiger Leaping Gorge. One way is by car, which is convenient and saves time. The other way is on foot through the path in Haba Snow Mountain or the gravel road. The advantage of traveling on foot is that you can admire the beauty of Tiger Leaping Gorge closely. The sceneries of Tiger Leaping Gorge can be divided into two parts – gorge scenery and mountain scenery. If you go through the gravel road, then you can see the gorge scenery; if you choose the path, then you can appreciate the scenery of the Haba Snow Mountain.
Best Time to Tiger Leaping Gorge
The gorge is located on a high altitude. The average altitude of the region is over 3300 meters. Even in August, it may snow. As it is surrounded by Hengduan Mountains, the temperature here varies greatly between day and night. There is a saying ‘four seasons in a day’ to describe the dramatic changes of weather. So we strongly suggest you bringing a coat, down coat, gloves and non-slippery shoes. As the weather is very dry and UV radiation is strong, don’t forget to take suncream, hat and sunglasses. From October it gets very cold there, you should carry more clothes to stay warm. From June to September there is a rain season, so people usually visit Tiger Leaping Gorge in spring and summer. At that time, the weather is fine and many flowers bloom in the meadow, resembling a fairyland. The most fantastic moment of the gorge is twenty days after the Mid-autumn Festival when all the plants turn yellow.

How to get to Tiger Leaping Gorge
You could take bus from Lijiang or Shangri-La to the Tiger Leaping Gorge town or Dajv, where the entrances are located. The most common route starts in Lijiang. If you enter the gorge from the Tiger Leaping Gorge town, you could save 80 Yuan for the ticket to Yulong Snow Mountain and protection fee of the Lijiang Old Town. If you choose to pass through the gorge then back to Dajv, on the way you could visit the Maoniuping( yak flat) and Yunshanping( spruce flat) in Yulong Snow Mountain, as both of them are free.
Matters need Attention
Since the temperature during the day is high, you could wear shorts and T-shirts. And you should bring some high caloric food with you in order to replenish your energy in time.
