The Tanzhe Temple is located in the western suburb of Beijing. It is one of the temples of the longest history in Beijing. Because of the pool behind the temple, and the large amount of Cudrania trees around it, the temple is named the Tanzhe Temple (literally ”temple of pool and Cudrania trees”). The layout of the temple can be divided into three sets, the east set, the middle set, and the west set. The Decorated Archway, the Mountain Gate, the Tianwang Hall, the Daxiong Hall, and the Pilu Pavilion are situated along the central axis. The east set of the temple was once an imperial palace. It consists of various delicate halls and pavilions. The west set of the temple is mainly used for religious activities. You can find magnificent halls like the Guanyin Hall, the Jietan there.
