When you have already booked China Fights and take your China Tours, what are the destinations coming into your mind? Probably Beijing, Xi’an? In fact, places like that are kind of destinations called”must-see”. However, if you would like to go outdoor to experience fresh air and beautiful nature, Aershan is absolutely your cup of tea.
Aershan locates in northeastern part of Inner Mongolia which is quite close to Mongolia. It locates in the middle of four famous grasslands. To its east is the most well known Hulunbeier Grassland; Kerqin Grassland locates southeast of it. To its west is the great Mongolian Grassland and southwest of it is Xilinguole Grassland.

The fact is that Aershan is not famous for the grassland. As a national forest park, it is famous for various kinds of landscapes such as forest, lakes, etc. More than that, it is also known as a “volcano museum”. Aershan is the seventh alive volcano point in China. As a result of volcano activities, some lakes were formed. Among them, heavenly lake is quite popular. At 1322m above sea level this is the third highest Heavenly Lake in China. The lake is not especially high or large, but has its own characterful beauty. If you take a little walk around these lakes, you will find the unique beauty there.

In winter time, Aershan is suitable for skiing. The fact is that Aershan is a national standard skiing resort. Because of Aershan locating in northern part of China, it has a quite long winter which lasts nearly 7 months, the skiing season is rather long. Besides, it has already become the training base for national skiing team. During winter, Aershan turn itself into a total world of fairy tale.
For another valuable resource of Aershan, it shall be the volcano spa. It is said that the spa could cure disease. There are 48 spa within Aershan area. So come along and enjoy it.
In addition, Aershan is also popular with their historical site. During the second world war, Japanese army occupied Aershan since its great military value. They built several military fortifications to protect themselves from potential assault of USSR. Among them, there are five secret airfields to store their fighters. These airfields (or hangars) are round roof covered and kept in good condition which also worth taking a look.
