Meili Snowy Mountain is a National AAAA scenic spot. It is called one of the “ten most beautiful famous mountains” and Lantsang Meili Valley is one of “the most beautiful valleys in China”. Also the Zhuanjing Route of Meili Snowy Mountain (Zhuangjing is a religious activity of Tibet. People walk around a route and pray) is called one of the “the 50 global best ecological lines.” The natural scenery of Meili Snowy Mountain is colorful and magnificent and the mountain is a modern ocean valley glacier.
Best Time to Visit Meili Snowy Mountain
The best time to visit Meili Snowy Mountain is from October to May next year, because of the bright weather, fresh air and you can see the main peak.
From April to September, if you are lucky you will see the snowy mountain after the sun rises in the morning. But the climate there changes in minutes. People have many chances to see the Kawagebo Peak (the main peak of Meili Snowy Mountain). Some visitors decide whether to continue to visit the scenery or not depending on the weather. If the weather is good, they will go on visiting, if it is raining, they won’t. But visitors often get the opposite of what they want. Actually seeing the mountain is a heart wrenching feeling, especially seeing the holy mountains. The right attitude is to see the holy mountains with your heart instead of concern about the weather or time.
In the late autumn and early spring, the best time to see the Kawagebo Peak is from 8 to 9 AM. You will see a strip of white cloud under the peak. The natives called it “Kawagebo offers a hada” (hada is a piece of silk used as a greeting gift.) As the sun rises the clouds do too. At midday the cloud is floating in the Kawagebo Peak, people called it “the umbrella of the Kawagebo.” And in a Tibetan legend, not everyone can see the beautiful scenery, only the lucky ones will see it.

How to Get to the Meili Snowy Mountain
By bus: you can take a bus from Shangri-La country to Deqin.
By Taxi: you can get a taxi if you want to see more scenery. You will pass by Nixi, Benzi Lan, Dongzhulin Temple and White Snow Mountain. Also you will see Deqin country, Feilai Temple and finally Mingyong Glacier. If you pass by the Feilai Temple, you can see the evening glow. Before you get the car you need to discuss the price with the driver and check the route and destination.
Tips: Most of the visitors will go to the Mingyong Glacier, you can see the Meili Snowy Mountain first and then get a car to go to Lantsang Bu Country. The way to go to Lantsang Bu Country is by the bumpy highway, that can only be driven on by off-road jeeps. After you arrive at Bu country, you can walk to Mingyong country and find a hotel to stay.
