Lugu Lake Attentions
- The views of the Lugu Lake scenic zone are fantastic. However the spots are kind of spread out. The roads along the trip are rather hard. Most of them are made of stones with cliffs. Many girls are afraid of them.
- The water temperature of the Lugu Lake is relatively low, even in summer. Don’t put your feet in the water for a long time. The topography along the lake is rather complicated. Don’t swim in the lake.
- Respect the religion and living habits of the local ethnic group. Don’t involve in marriages of the local people. They have their own rules.
- Visitors usually spent two nights in the Lugu Lake scenic zone. It is highly recommend that you spend one night at Yunnan and the other night at Sichuan. There is no bus between the Sichuan part and the Yunnan park of the Lugu Lake. Visitors can rent a car and drive, join in a tour group, or take a boat. The price for the boat is 80 yuan.
How to Get to the Lugu Lake
There are two buses at 9：00 AM and 10：00AM from Lijiang to the Lugu Lake. The trip lasts around six hours. The price is 65 yuan, including 2 yuan of the insurance. Take the bus at the Lijiang Bus Station and get off at the Lugu Lake Bus station (Big Water Village).
There is a traveling bus at 8：30 AM from the Lijiang Old City Park to the Lugu Lake. It arrives at the Water Village, and then Lige. If visitors go back from the Lugu Lake to Lijiang, you need to order tickets at the Lugu Lake Bus station (Big Water Village). There are two buses in the morning. One leaves at 10：00 AM and the other leaves at 12：00AM. It costs 10 yuan per person to go the Lige from the Big Water Village to get to Lige.
Some visitors come from Lijiang, arrive at Ningliang first, and then get to the Lugu Lake. There are ten buses from Lijiang to Ningliang in the Lijiang Bus Station. The earliest bus leaves at 7∶30 AM and the latest bus leaves at 3∶00 PM. The ticket is 25 yuan per person. The trip is only 125 kilometres long but it usually takes four hours because the road quality is not so good.
In Ningliang, there are minibuses to go to the Lugu Lake. The drivers usually ask travellers if you would like to take their buses. The bus leaves when all the seats are taken. Usually there are six or seven seats in one bus. The price of the ticket from Liniang to Wateon. Village, Youning or Lige is 20 yuan per person. The trip is around 80 kilometres and it takes two hours to get to the destination.
