Built in 200 A.D, the Ancient Town Daxu (big embankment) is one of the very four oldest embankment towns in Guangxi. The old street in the town measures about 2 km along the river bank of Lijiang River. Ancient houses were well preserved, standing by the side of the road paved with blue flagstone.
Best time to visit Ancient Town Daxu:
The best time to travel in Ancient Town Daxu is from April to October, when is just the right time to pick up oranges and strawberries. What’s more, you are allowed to take those fruits back with you if you like. However, it’s better for visitors not to go to the town during the Labor Day holiday and the National Day holiday.

How to get to the Ancient Town Daxu:
The Ancient Town Daxu is only 15 km away from the city centre of Guilin, so visitors can take the shuttle bus to Guanyan in Guilin Long-distance Bus Station near the train station every other hour. The trip takes about 40 min and the ticket price is 4.5 yuan or so.
