Acrobatic Spectacle in Beijing

When you travel to Beijing, your first stops for sightseeing may be the Great Wall or the Forbidden City, but if you have an evening free, you must see the Beijing Acrobats show. There are three theatres in Beijing where you can witness this visual masterpiece, the Chaoyang Theatre, Tiandi Theatre and Worker’s Club. So book your flights with china travel to see the fascinating cultural shows that this city has to offer

There are many night shows in Beijing, but the Chaoyang Theatre works mainly on the performance of an acrobatic show. The performance was established in 1984 and since then, it has attracted millions of tourists. These holidaymakers merely sit and appreciate the art of acrobatics. It truly is an art, a very skilful one at that. The amazing stunts that you see make it very similar to the world-famous Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas. Although the acts and props are of an oriental fashion, the Beijing Acrobats Show is equally as breathtaking as the Cirque de Soleil.

The show is that popular that there are two different show times every evening, one at 5:15pm that finishes at 6:30pm. The later show starts at 7:15pm and finishes at 8:30pm. The staff at the theatre speak good English which is always an advantage when your on holiday. Ticket prices range, but I would recommend asking your hotel to organize your purchase for you. You’re likely to get a cheaper deal this way, rather than buying your tickets at the entrance of the theatre or online. Chaoyang Theatre is in a convenient location, situated to the east third ring road of Beijing, connected to Jinguang Building. Another geographical advantage is that it is just down the road from Sanlitun, the famous bar and nightclub area of Beijing. Many tourists head down to this exciting part of the city after the show for diner and a few drinks as it has some of the most lively bars and clubs in Asia. I’d particularly recommend Kokomo, a rooftop bar, which has a great view of the city.

The show itself is simply stunning to watch and admire.    You have to appreciate the shear skill and agility it takes to pull off such stunts. There were about 10 acts throughout the show, all extremely impressive. The opening act had a man balancing himself on his hand, on the top of 8 chairs stacked together. Similarly, to witness 10 girls balancing themselves on each other on a bicycle whilst one was riding it was remarkable (above).  These stunts leave you shocked at how impressive these acrobats are. It takes a long time to master this skill, so, naturally each performer goes through intense training to get to the correct standard to perform on stage. The flexibility, agility body strength of the performers are something to value. The whole show is one big cultural experience that simply cannot be missed.

There are of course, other night shows in Beijing that are worth seeing as well, most notably the Peking Opera, but the Flying Acrobats Show is right at the top of things to do when you visit Beijing. It is an essential part of China Tours.
