For Beijing street food, you can just take a little walk to the street corner. In most cases, there will be places selling street food at main street corner. In fact, some places such as outside schools or big office buildings are great ones to find street food.

Talking about Chinese street food, there is such a vast range available that you couldn’t describe all of lt. For Beijing, there are many kinds of street food available to you. If you can go outside to explore the street, you might find yourself located in the world of street food. It is quite simple just pointing the food you want and hand in the money.

At first, I would suggest everyone try the Chinese lamb kebabs. It is something found all over China. It originally comes from Xinjiang Province, a Musilim area which locates in the northwestern part of China. In Chinese, people call them “Yang Rou Chuai”. Skewers of meat cooked over a charcoal fire, sprinkled with cumin and spices and handed over to the salivating customer for just 1 RMB or 2 RMB. They’re sometimes sold outside a Muslim restaurant, or just from a barbecue place. Most of them are sold by ethnic Uyghurs. In addition, they also sell kebabs of chicken, pork and beef.

Next, you should have a taste on Chinese “sandwich” as well. It is “Rou Jia Mo” in Chinese which means “meat-stuffed-roll” in English. It consists of a piece of thick pitta bread stuffed with sweet, juicy pork and coriander (cillantro). Unluckily, it is becoming harder and harder to find “Rou Jia Mo” now.

There is also another famous one called “Jian Bing” in Chinese. To some extent, it is a bit like pancake. Sometimes, these Jian Bings sometimes will become full meals for Beijing local people if they are in hurry. The mix is cooked in front of you and covered in egg. The pancake is stuffed with a light, crunchy batter-like filling, and any variety of things like sausage or spring onions, covered with generous helpings of various sauces, and handed over to you. They are actually very fresh and tasty. Next time, if you are in hurry, you can also grab a piece of Jian Bing and make yourself more “local”.

Besides, there is another kind of street food only sold in winter-Tang Hu Lu. Tang Hu Lu is made of fresh Hawthron which is quite sour. Tang Hu Lu is covered by sugar which gives you a taste of combination of sweet and sour. However, it is only sold in winter.

As a whole, most of the street food above can be found in street market or corner of the street. Just go down the street and explore the amazing street food which will make your Beijing Tours more interesting.
