Bell Pavilion is located in the south of Fubo Hill, to the west of the Huanzhu Cave.  It is a quadrangle pavilion with a single upturned eave. The 4.7m high, 4.5m wide and 4.4 long pavilion covers an area of 19.8 square meters. An old bell is displayed there, which is where the Pavilion got its name from. The 2.5m high old bell has 1.7m in diameter and weights 2524kg.  It was forged to reward Kong Youde’s merits to Qing dynasty in the eighth year of Kangxi period(1669).  Kong Youde, a minister from Ming dynasty, was created as Dingnan King, stationing in Guangxi.   In the eighth year of Shunzhi period (1651), he built Dingyue Temple. After farmer army’s leader Li Dingguo with his peasant army stormed Guilin, Kong Youde committed a suicide. 15 years later, his daughter Kong Sizhen and her husband Sun Yanling went to Guilin to served in a court as a steward and a general.  They extended the Dingyue Temple and casted a bell to memorize Kong Youde’s merits. The phrases “The stability of nation”, “the prosperity of managing state affairs in an ideal way”, “the light of Buddha dharma” and “the boundlessness of Buddha dharma” were carved on its rails. Kong Youde’s army was named “The meritorious statesman of local banner” , however the religious character was only a cover-up for a complicated political agenda. Once used as instrument in the temple, it is now an important testimony of the history.
