On July 8th, Air China (AC) Southwest Branch will open the flight between Chengdu and Shigatse. This is the first flight that Shigatse Heping Airport has ever had. Shigatse is the second largest city in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Hepng Airport in Shigatse is becoming the fifth civil airport in Tibet.
After Shigatse is open to air traffic, Air China (AC) will build an airline network that connects Tibet to other places more easily. The airline is named World Roof, because travelers can reach Mount Everest conveniently, as it is close to the city. Lhasa is central to this airline network which includes other important cities such as Nyingchi, qamdo, Ali and Shigatse.
The flight number from Chengdu to Shigatse is CA4421/2. Airbus A319 planes can land on any plateau. Therefore this model of aeroplane is used to land in Shigastse. The plane flies three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It takes off at 6:55 AM from Shuangliu Airport in Chengdu and arrives at Shigatse Heping Airport at 9:20AM. Then it takes off from Shigatse at 10:10 AM and get back to Chengdu at 12:10 PM.

The glacier and the world’s highest peak Mount Everest are to the south of Shigatse.
