Locatiion

Wuzhen lies at the north of Tongxiang City of Zhejiang Province,China and at the center of the tirangle formed by Shanghai ,Hangzhou and Nanjing.The town is divided into four zones by a cross-shaped river, with the Bejing-Hangzhou Grand Canal running across the town, making it the only ancient water town adjacent to the canal.Due to its warm and humid climate,and abundant rainfalls and sunshine, the products here are rich ,making Wuzhen well-known as “the town of fish ,rice and silk”.

History

Wuzhen enjoys a history of over a thousand years since its establishment in 872 A.D. However ,according to the textual research of the Tanjiawan site ,one of the important cultural relics under state protection, ancient Grand Canal nurtured the splendid culture of Wuzhen ,and the long historic accumulation endowed Wuzhen with sound cultural deposits. Over more than 1,000 years , it has never changed its name , address ,water system or lifestyle.The traditional buildings are still well preseved after crossing so many rough years.

Hundred Beds Museum

Located at 210 Dongzha Dajie, Wuzhen ,Jiangnan Hundred Bed Museum is the first museum in China to collect and exhibit ancient beds of the Jiangnan area, which holds dozens of typical old beds form the Ming and Qing dynasties and moderm times.These beutifully engraved ancient beds will fulfil your eyes so much as some with exquisite workmanship and unique style,others with magnificent decoration and impressive bearing.People won’t be able to help appreciationg the broad and profound culture of China . Shadown Play

Shadow Play, the unique Chinese cartoon ,is a leather-silhouette show using props made by oxhide or sheepskin to perform various plays behind a screen with strong light casting upon. The props are handmade. Using thread to link the joints so thread they could move freely .Accompanied by Chinese traditional musical instruments such as urheen and flute , the show earns  great popularity. Shawdow play and the local shadow play artists have been introduced into  Janpan ,Singapore ,Germany and other foreign countries.

If Wuzhen in the daylight gives you an original taste of water town in Jiangnan, it will bring you a totally different flavor in the night, People often say “lodge at Wuzhen for night, rest with water sound”, which provides a description of the wonderful nights in Wuzhen.In Xizha Scenic zone, when the night comes , the lights controlled by timing will be turned up and draw a transparent picture of Xizha. Lights from the cracks of doors or windows of local residences give out warm feelings.The whole Xizha is like a splendent jade palace ,and makes people feel lost.
