Hot Spring in Li Mountain is known as “the first hot spring in the world” because of its long history unaffected by the turbulent changes.  The hot spring was formed 2 or 3 million years ago.  It has been used for more than 6 thousand years.  During the old times, emperors of Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui and Tang dynasty used this secluded place for leisure and entertainment. It came to be an honor to the ministers if they had a chance to enjoy the Hot Spring in Li Mountain. Initially named Spa palace, it was rebuilt many times during subsequent dynasties. The average water temperature is 43℃ all year round.  This fact is mentioned in the old saying: “Over millennia, Hot Spring in Li Mountain is not affected by the change of time or temperature”.  Moreover, the hot spring is a natural habitat for many organisms such as lime, soda, silica, alumina, sulfur, sodium sulfate and so on.  All of them are effective in curing various skin diseases, which was proven in Qin dynasty; in Han dynasty by the scientist Zhang Heng in his work ”Hot Spring Fu(one of the Chinese literary forms akin to poetry) ”; and in Northern Wei Dynasty (Yuan Chang’s “Hot Spring Song” and Emperor Li Shimin’s “Hot Spring inscription”).  In a word, Hot Spring in Li Mountain is a place where visitors can enjoy both the fine view and healing bath.
