while the second and third cities are the typical modern and shopping city in China. Today, what I am going to recommend is the Special Economic Zone—Shenzhen. This city has just celebrated their 30-year anniversary for establishing the Special Economic Zone. 30 years ago, Shenzhen was a small village in Guangdong province and people there was living on fishing. Now, it becomes the top 1 city which has the largest number of harbors, transportation centers, and airports in China. It is one of the major financial centers in the world and is the second important financial city following Shanghai in China. What attracts me more? It is just 1 hour away to Hong Kong!
Since it is the newest modern city in China, I would suggest that you spend vacations or do shopping here if you just need to relax after busy daily work. The first entertainment site I recommend is the Window of the World. Here, you can travel around the world just in one day. 
This theme park is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and far from the noisy downtown area. This 480,000 square meter land is divided into five themes which represent five continents in the world. You can visit the Pyramids and the Sphinx, climb the Eiffel Tower with the size ratio of 1:3 to the original tower. You will also see Taj Mahal of India, the Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon at the same day. If you want some adventure trips, there are several programs for you to have a try, such as navigating on the Grand Canyon, and hunting in the jungles. Moreover, the night programs are fantastic as there are dancing shows from all over the world each night, the parade and fireworks. The price is 140 RMB (about $20) per day and it opens from 9am to 10pm. You can either take a direct bus from airport to the Window of the World or ask your hotels to provide shuttle bus.
The second must-see place is Xiangmi Lake Resort. Because the climate in Shenzhen is subtropical, the temperature is quite steady. The seasons are neither
harsh winters nor hot summers and the humidity is moderate. Thus, there is no good or bad season to visit this resort. Although this resort was built in 1981, the constructions and facilities are quite new and renovated each year. It includes adventure islands, top hotels, sports center and collections of all kinds of food. The best part of this resort, I would say, is the tasted food. You do not need to go every corner of China, and you can enjoy the local flavor food from all over China, such as the seafood dishes in Southern China, Mongolian food in Northeastern China, Sichuan spicy food, Chinese BBQ, and even Korean and Japanese food.
As I have mentioned that the transportation in Shenzhen is quite convenient, no matter what kind of vehicle you are taking. And because of this convenience, the competition between airlines to 
Shenzhen is very tense. This means the chance of booking cheap air tickets to Shenzhen is not so difficult. The full-price air ticket from Shanghai to Shenzhen is around 1200 RMB ($200), but the sale price, if you are lucky and fast, you can get even 70% off. Another trick to save money on air tickets is to choose some “cheap” airlines, like Singapore Tiger Airways and Shanghai Spring International Travel Service. Because the flight routes in Shenzhen Baoan International Airport are various, you can easily pick the cheaper routes or cheaper airlines both for international or domestic flights. Moreover, the domestic airlines in China are prompting the domestic connecting flights recent years. The special part is that it is similar to the operation of train. The airplane has two or three stops before it arrives at the final destination. At one stop, some passengers will get off and their seats on the airplane are “disposable” so that the new passengers getting on from this stop can continue to seat on the same spot. The flying time does not make much difference, but the tickets are cheaper. So what I am suggesting is to pay attention on choosing the routes as there are plenty of options in Shenzhen airport.
The last question is where to stay in Shenzhen. Well, you do not need to worry about it at all. Shenzhen is a very young but highly modernized city, so the facilities and buildings are at a relatively high level. All you need to is book and pay for Shenzhen Hotels online before you leave.
