Chinese ancient men of letter liked climbing. They thought by climbing a mountain they could broaden their vision. And sometimes they climbed a mountain just in order to voice their homesickness. They usually did so at Mid-autumn festivals. Since Mid-autumn is coming, I also have the idea of climbing a mountain. The first mountain comes to my mind is Mount Tai. The name has been familiar to me since I was young. I’ve never been there before, but I plan to go there in near future. I have heard that Mount Tai has four wonders. That’s really attractive because I like wonders. I believe many people who are on China Tours are also longing for climbing Mount Tai and watching the four wonders by their own eyes. Before we set off, I think, it’s better for us to have a general idea of what we are going to see in order to have a wonderful china travel.
Mount Tai, with its main peak rising 1,545 meters above sea level in central Shandong Province, has since ancient times been a mountain held in high esteem by the Chinese people. It is known as the “First of the Five Sacred Mountains” and ranks third among the five mountains in terms of height. The four wonders of Mount Tai are: Sunrises from the East, the Sunset Glow, the Sea of Clouds and the Golden Belt along the Yellow River.
1. Sunrises from the East
The top of Mount Tai is the best place to see the sunrise in the east. People
say that standing at the top of the mountain at dawn, you will see a gleam of sunlight first, the color of which turns from dark grey into light yellow. Meanwhile the clouds in the sky keep changing their colors. In a twinkle, the whole sun rises above the sea of clouds, casting its golden light on everything below.
The whole process of sunrise is enchanting. However, usually many people can not catch the right moment. Here is a time table for your reference.
2. The Sunset Glow
Sunset at Mount Tai is another wonder, especially when the sky clears after rain. Still at the summit of the mountain you will see the clouds at sunset take on spectacular scenery. They are not clouds any more; instead, they turn into hills and mountains. And you will be amazed by rounds of mountains up and down in the sky.
3. The Sea of Clouds
The scenery of the sea of clouds appears mostly in summer and autumn. When it appears, the hills and mountains are swallowed by the clouds. And
you can only find few mountains above the clouds. At this time, people who are climbing or standing on nearby mountains would seem like fairies. If there is a great wind, the clouds will change into a dragon, floating up and down in the sea.
4. The Golden Belt along the Yellow River
The Golden Belt along the Yellow River usually appears in clear days. At sunset, if you look far into the distance, you will see a golden belt in the northwest of Mount Tai. It’s said to be the reflection of the Yellow River. It ranges from southwest to northeast, all the way to the point where heaven and earth integrate.
So that’s the four wonders of Mount Tai. Are you pleased with these introductions? They have greatly drawn my attention. I believe the real scenery is more beautiful than what the pictures have shown. So, I have determined my mind to go there someday. If you are also interested in Mount Tai, come together! You can take one of China Flights and come to Shandong Province which is the hometown of Confucius!
