Some More for the Road

Being an Irishman I know all about the Irish party culture but thousands of miles away from Temple bar, where can I party like its Dublin in Beijing? Listen up, here’s where the craic is at.

  • Danger Doyle’s: 3/F, Bldg 5, China View, 2 Gongti Donglu, Chaoyang District

Open from 10:30am until 2am at Danger Doyle’s you can catch a few matches on the multi feed screens, grab some Pizza and lounge on the roof terrace. For a bite to eat try the burgers to satisfy your taste buds and don’t forget the all important Guinness to wash it all down. Word on the street is head for the quiz on Monday evenings.

  • Molly Malone’s: No.90, Jinbao Street, Dongcheng District

With live music and sport on the big screens settle into one of the comfy bar stools with your pint and soak up the atmosphere in this elegant space. Try some Irish coffee for a real taste of the emerald Isle. Molly Malone’s is open Sunday to Wednesday 11am until 1am and open Thursday to Saturday 11am until 2am.

  • Paddy O’Shea’s: 28 Dongzhimenwai Dajie, Sanlitun

Paddy O’Shea’s Irish bar is currently basking in the glory of being crowned Best Sports Bar 2010 by The Beijinger, add The Friendliest crowd award and you have as they would say in Ireland “A whole good un”. Polish your rendition of “The Galway Girl” for Tuesday night’s open mic and celebrate the next morning with a full Irish from the kitchen. Drop into Paddy O’Shea’s from 11am until 2am.

  • The Irish Volunteer: 311 Jiangtai Lu, Lido

The Irish Volunteer has an impressive selection of stouts and whiskeys on tap for a wee taste of Ireland in Lido, Beijing. Satisfy your stomach with some wholesome Irish stew or some corned beef toasties from the menu. Catch up on the sports when you pop in. The Irish Volunteer is open 9pm until 2am.
