On this year’s Mid-autumn Day my roommate Olivia and I went to Beijing Botanical Garden for a sunflower exhibition. We had been looking forward to that day since we heard the news that the garden was holding a sunflower exhibition for several days. We had a wonderful day at the garden where we got a close touch with the nature, especially with the lovely sunflowers. Here I’d like to share our wonderful experience with people who also like the nature and who are on Beijing Tours. I suggest this garden for your china travel.

Beijing Botanical Garden lies in the northwestern outskirts of Beijing. We just took Bus No. 563 from a bus stop near our school to go there. Although the bus was very crowded, we managed to hold on to the destination.

We entered the garden from its south gate. After a little walking we saw a tall artificial sunflower stand in front of us which seemed to be showing its warm welcome. Around it were a lot flowered moulded figures. Very creative!

Another beautiful and creative scenery is a statue of a girl’s face. Decorated among the green plants and flowers, she was supposed to be a flower fairy. Since we were motivated to go there by the sunflowers, we paid our attention mainly to sunflowers. We walked to the sunflower field directly.

The sunflowers there looked really bright and beautiful. They were all turning their heads towards the sun like obedient soldiers. I really love their golden color. The brown circles in the centre of the flowers seemed like big eyes. You can imagine their blinking and smiling at you.

However, out of our expectations, there was only a small amount of sunflowers raising their heads. And the most sunflowers were bending their heads so low that we even couldn’t recognize them.

They looked just like a field of green plants. By no means could you see their golden flowers. But we like them, because they showed us a beauty of maturity. Autumn is a season of great harvest, which can be revealed fully by the mature sunflowers.

Although they were bending their heads low, I managed to take photos of their faces. They were so shy. They were all bearing a whole moon of seeds which looked so attractive. Olivia and I couldn’t help picking up their seeds and have a taste. It tastes so tender and sweet and full of water. An idea suddenly occurred to my mind: why not steal one? Actually that idea is feasible. However we totally forgot it when we were leaving the garden.

Most people have the impression that sunflowers have bright yellow color. That’s true. Most commonly seen ones are yellow and shaped like a moon. However, we saw red sunflowers and light-yellow ones which looked like chrysanthemum.

Besides sunflowers there are many others flowers planted there which are divided into different gardens such as Tree Peony Garden, Lilac Garden, Rose Garden, Magnolia Garden, Penjing Garden, etc. The whole garden assembles various kinds of flowers from both home and abroad. In fact, you can go there in spring when most of the flowers are in bloom. Here is a map for anyone who is interested in visiting Beijing Botanical garden during their China Tours.
