I spent my undergraduate years in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province of China. It’s a medium-sized city to the south of the Yangtze River. When we were in the first year of university, my class and our teacher went to the Turtle Head Islet Park which is the most famous resort in Wuxi and had a great time there. It was so attractive that I went there with my friend for the second time when I was to graduate from university. So I have a lot of memories of that beautiful place. When I close my eyes, a series of fantastic pictures come to my mind. I couldn’t help presenting them here for friends who are on a china travel to refer to when they are planning their China Tours.
As the park is located near to our university, it only took us 20 minutes to go there. On arriving at the park, we were amazed by a great stretch of water and mountains of trees, also the long wooden bridge across the water. We took out cameras, hoping to capture the beautiful sceneries.
We walked together deep into the mountains. Because it was in April, we
could see flowers everywhere such as red-and-white tulips, yellow daffodils, golden jasmines, white peonies and magnolias. The trees were dressed in new green. And birds kept singing all the way.
It was the right time for blooming cheery blossoms. So we walked straight to the cheery blossoms forest. The cheery trees were first sent by Japanese friends. After 20 years’ construction the forest has tens of thousands cheery trees, covering an area of 100 mu. The falling cheery flowers were like raining.
The Turtlehead Isle Park boasts not only natural mountains and trees, but also the Turtlehead Isle on the Taihu Lake. That’s the greatest attraction in this resort. To get on the isle, we should take a ship. After having lunch, we gathered at the dock where many people were waiting for the ship.
After a little waiting we boarded on the greatest ship there and set off to the Turtlehead Isle. Turtlehead Isle is a peninsula on the bank of Taihu Lake, where a huge rock protrudes itself into the lake, which appears as if a turtle is floating in water, raising its head. It has long been the first scenic spot on Taihu Lake. It was a great experience to view the surrounding sceneries on the Taihu Lake. Wind blew with the fragrance of flowers. And in the water you could see big fishes swimming.
Then we got in the isle which was also full of green trees and colorful
flowers. There is a very good place for lovers. That is the Match-maker’s Hall. Lovers can buy a lock there and carve their names on it, then lock it and throw its key into Taihu Lake. By doing so, they will love each other forever and never be separated. I believe that is the dream for every girl.
What the hall is facing is just the Taihu Lake. Near the land, the water is not deep and you can jump on the rocks in the water and touch the water by your hand. Also you can climb on a tree along the lake. I don’t know why the trees are just shaped like a chair. Maybe they are just showing their hospitality.
That’s the main experience of our trip to the Turtlehead Isle Park. After writing so much, I just feel that the real sceneries and feelings are just out of words. It’s natural that a place with mountains and waters is bound to be beautiful. But the Turtlehead Isle Park is more than mountains and waters. I am totally in love with this place after my experience there. It makes me feel really good. I suggest travelers go there for a marvelous china travel.
