Being such a vibrant city there are many things that one can do whilst visiting whilst visiting Beijing on your Beijing Tours and many places to stay with China Hotels. There are plenty of sights to see, many different foods to experience and lots of shopping to do where one is able to obtain anything they desire.
Must Visit Sights
Home to the Parliament building of the People’s Republic of China, Tiananmen Square is a must visit tourist stop. Walking between the Gate of
Heavenly Peace is daunting, as you walk through over 3000 years of Chinese culture by passing through this gate. With the Imperial Palace in the background it is a mesmerizing experience. Tiananmen Square can be reached by the subway and getting off at Tiananmen East or Tiananmen West Station on line 1, or by getting off at Qianmen Station and walking North on line 2. But be sure to give yourself plenty of time to visit this tourist attraction as you will need all day to be able to get all that Tiananmen Square has to offer.
Great Wall
Located North of Beijing the Great Wall is another must visit site for tourists. Three sections of the wall can be visited from Beijing, the Badaling section
which is the most visited section being only 50km North of Beijing, the Mutianyu section about 70km northeast of Beijing this section boasts a cable car and a wheeled toboggan ride, and finally the Jinshanling and Simatai section which is the most isolated section of the wall and due to this has the most breathtaking views. One can take a bus or a taxi to the wall but going with China Tours is recommended as you get an English speaking travel guide and lunch.
Shopping
Beijing has a variety of areas to shop where you can find anything from cheap goods to designer products. Due to the amazing variety of shopping areas Beijing has to offer I will describe the extremes, the modern shopping centers and the traditional markets.
Silk Street
Easily accessible by subway Silk Street is one of the more modern shopping areas in Beijing this is a gold mine compared to the shopping areas back home. Not only are the shops the same quality as you would find back home
but the products that they are selling are cheaper. For instance a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt which would cost around £65 back in the UK but at Silk Street one can buy a Polo Shirt for 50rmb (£5). This market is most popular amongst foreign tourists as the sales people are able to speak reasonable English. Silk Street can be visited by taking line 1 and getting off at Yong’anli.
Daliushu Guanxin Market
Only open at weekends this market is one of Beijing’s best kept secrets, for it makes Silk Streets cheap products seem expensive in comparison to what you will spend here. A little tricky to find this market is worth it, haggling is not required as everything is so cheap. As well as being able to find designer clothes and shoes this market has an outdoor flea market style area where one can purchase antiques and other vintage goods. The earlier you arrive here the better as naturally the better stuff gets taken first. To get there take bus no. 30, 34, 348,475,637,677, 687, 735 or 745 to Daliushu stop.
So when on your Beijing Tours be sure to visit these sites and do a little shopping. You will not regret it.
