Budget Travel China

China is such an amazing country. There is so much there that you want to experience and explore. However, you are thinking over and over about the budget. You rack your brain trying to figure out a way to enjoy yourself without breaking the bank. Don’t worry! Good planning and some tips do make it possible.

As a matter of fact, much of our money is probably spent on China Flights , China Hotels, Transportation and food. So we can save money in these aspects.

Airfares

Plan in advance and check discount websites to see if there are better deals.

Be flexible in scheduling your flight. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are typically the cheapest days to fly; late-night flights, very early morning flights and flights with at least one stop tend to be discounted as well.

If possible, stay with the same airline during your entire trip, so you can receive round-trip or other connecting fare discounts, such as frequent flier miles.

Airlines now charge for excess luggage and if you have 2 bags or more, you are probably supposed to be charged for it. Remember not to use over sized bags whenever possible and try to keep it all within one bag per person.

Hotels

Location is very important. Hotel rates vary from place to place depending on its location. If there is not so much traffic inconvenience to be caused, give up those downtown ones.

You can telephone a hotel to ask specifically how far they are from your target tourist attractions. A more accurate way of doing this however would be to use Google Earth or other online mapping system, which will allow you to identify the exact location of the hotel. It will also allow you to identify exactly how far it is from certain other locations, and even print out a map to show you how to reach those locations. This might all seem a little petty, but think about the $10 to $15 you can save a night on your hotel trip.

You don’t always need famous or 5-star hotels, and sometimes inns or B&Bs (bed and breakfast) can also be comfortable while less expensive.

Most front desk personnel are personable and can give good advice on getting better rates at their hotels. Negotiate with them to get good discounts for your stay.

Travel agents have good contacts among hotel chains and can get discounts on reservations thus made. If you choose to have a travel agent help you get a good hotel, then make sure that the service fee you pay them does not make going through an agent more expensive then making the reservation yourself.

Transportation

If possible, avoid taxis and welcome public transportation. Use the subway or buses because it’s sometimes easier and it is much cheaper. By the way, if you are in Beijing, the best way is to take subways, not only because it’s very cheap and convenient but also because if your take buses or taxis, you may get stuck in the road for a long time due to the traffic jams.

Rent a car and drive it yourself can be a good idea.

Food

Avoid breakfast from the hotels. Chances are good that the breakfast from the hotel is expensive and isn’t great. It probably pays to walk out the front door in the morning and find a local cafe. You might just stumble onto the local favorite.

Eat more at lunch than dinners. Fancy lunches are often much less expensive than dinners. If you eat a big breakfast, lunch and a light dinner, it’s also healthier.

Go to the grocery store. Things in the hotels are generally much more expensive than they should be. When you have your hotel checked in, the next step should be looking for a super market or grocery stores. It’s worth it to take a trip there and get snacks, water, and everything you need for your trip.

All these are not just for money. Economization is an attitude towards life. We do not want to give the money which comes from our hard work away just on unnecessary stuffs. Or we do want to take a vocation ending up with an empty wallet.

The 2010 is going to an end, and plan a budget China travel to get relaxed and award yourself for the hard work of the whole year.
