Yangshuo is a very popular area which is famous for its wonderful karst scenery, beautiful mountains, rivers, caves, and temples as well as its laid back cafes and bars. This destination is a magnificent place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life or want to take a breath of natural fresh air while on your China Tours and be included on your list of things to do when on your china travel.
The Karst landscape
Yangshuo area is renowned throughout China, if not the whole world for its Karst landscape where there are hundreds upon hundreds of limestone hills dotting the countryside. The beautiful scenery here is a common subject for Chinese paintings as well as inspiration for poetry. There are several popular areas for Karst landscape sight – seeing especially for the adventurous that can be covered by river cruises, bamboo – raft cruises, cycling, trekking and combinations of the various modes. In the next passage I will write about rafting on the Yangdi-Xingping scenic area:
Yangdi-Xingping scenic area
This stretch along the Li River is probably the most renowned and popular in Yangshuo. It has traditional bamboo rafts for tourists that have been replaced by rafts made of plastic pipe and 2 stroke motors. These rafts have attracted a lot of tourist trips calling it the “raft experience” which has become a boom industry in Yangdi – Xing ping area.
The rafts are safe and the better operators provide life jackets when cruising on the river. These tours in Yangshuo advertise prices as low as 88 Yuan, but equilibrium price is about 150 Yuan per trip. Be warned about the incredibly aggressive hawkers living in the area when you arrive in Xing ping. The more common Guilin-Yangshuo boat ride passes through this area. There is also a 24km track for easy hiking along the Li River. Here you will find while cruising along the river the inspiring scenery printed on the 20 Yuan note.
In this next passage I will write some information on the Yulong River Valley, The Moon Hill and The Silver Cave. These are just some of the top tourist attractions and things to do in Yangshuo:
- Yulong River Valley
The pretty Yulong River valley is said to rival the Yangdi-Xingping stretch in terms of beauty. To see this river besides, rafting down the river on bamboo rafts, another popular way of seeing the valley is by cycling along the riverside tracks. The journey will bring you through many farming villages and past several stone bridges across the river such as the Yulong Qiao and Fuli Qiao. Be warned though that the track is complicated and it is easy to get lost; using a local guide will ensure you stay on track.
- The Moon Hill
This is another popular scenic spot south of town. The main attraction is a hill with a huge hole in the shape of a moon. Tourists can climb the hills here and be climbed for spectacular vistas from the top. From my point of view you could say It is a small hill and looks like a crescent moon and from the top you can see many fields and rivers around.
- The Silver Cave
The silver cave is a karst cave. At present, about 2 kilometres of the cave has been presented to tourists, including the lower cave, the grand hall and the upper cave. Here there are many outstanding spots in the area: – the waterfalls on snow hill, the heavenly screen of music, the deep moon palace, three treasures of the Buddha, The Pearl – decorated Umbrella and the solitary pillar propping up the sky.
Outdoor activities
Yangzhou is a very touristy attraction where you can find many things to do here where you can explore caves – there are an abundance of caves riddling the limestone hills.
