When you are on your China Tours and have spare time to shop around I definitely recommend “The Place”. The place is somewhere to visit from your China Hotels. The Place is situated in the central business district of Beijing. Here you can find many shops and places to dine.

“The Place” is certainly a weird name to try and get used to, but it aptly fits the scene as it is quite hard to describe in a few words. The place is interesting to walk around and it is of a modern design. You could describe it as walking in to a space ship because of the huge silver roof that covers “The Place”.
But by far, the showpiece of “The Place” is the giant LCD screen at night. It cycles through a few scenes; I was particularly captured by the music video advertisement clips.
It is known that famous Pop stars of China visit The Place for shopping as it is a richer area and very upper market. “The Place” is surrounded by multi coloured flashing lights and really sets the scene in a movie type fashion. Because it’s so upper market and some of what looks like a movie set you really could spend a long day in “The Place” shopping around.
The Place at night time
“The Place” is a walk through shopping district. Walking through there at night kind of reminded me of a dainty English town area in the back streets of London. It kind of had an aura which sets the scene of Jack the Ripper times. With the sandy looking roads and the secret garden which separates the entrance to the end of “The Place”. Because “The Place” seems like such an outlandish place you really can let your imagination run wild with this one.
The end of The Place has a huge monument with just “The Place” written on a paving slab. “Such a cool place to hang out”. There are restaurants at “That Place” but when I visited it was late at night you will find that the shops and restaurants close quite early.
Surrounding areas of The Place include Spa & Massaging parlours. Many office buildings and residential designated areas. When you’re on your Travel to Beijing don’t forget to visit “The Place”. Pop stars are most welcome!
