The 17th Asian Games has been open in November 11th, 2010 in Guangzhou, China. The government invested RMB 120 billion yuan on preparation of this Asian Games, including the constructions of stadiums, and the environment and public facilities of Guangzhou city. The government also tried the free public transit policy during the Asian Games. As the winter is coming in northern China, such as Xi’an Tours are cooling down as well. But Travel to Guangzhou is popular because of the warm weather and this Asian Games.
In order to encourage the tours to the Asian Games, the government controlled the price of flight tickets to Guangzhou. The discount is around
60% off and the flights from Beijing to Guangzhou are 40% off. Also the government used to establish the free public transit so that the traffic situation will be better. However, this policy suspended after a week, as too many people were attracted by the free subway. Instead, the residents in Guangzhou received the subsidies for encouraging the public transit. Also, from the first day of this month, Guangzhou government applied the “odd-even” restriction policy to the vehicles on road. This policy is welcome by drivers. All the main streets are no longer jammed during the rush hours. In addition, the safety check became strict in railway station, airports and subway stations in Guangzhou.
The opening ceremony was fabulous and the theme was “From the sky to the land, human and nature are universal”. The stage of opening ceremony was Pearl River and the background was the city. Water is the key throughout the
ceremony. During the ceremony, all the athletes were taken by the boats to arrive at the stadium. The fireworks on that day were compatible with the highest television tower in the world. The firework was like the rainbows falling from the two sides of television tower. The idea came from the chapter of Genesis of Bible—the firework rainbow represents the peace. And the “counting down” part was also presented by the fireworks of numbers. The environmental concerns are also involved in this firework shows. All the materials are environment friendly rather than the traditional pollution ones. The closing ceremony will be in Sea Heart Island on Nov 27th. And the free tickets for rehearsal shows will be available for people.
