I have spent a long time in Beijing doing all of the touristy sights and sampling the great cuisine I thought it was time to try something new, so I logged onto China Tours which helped me find some great idea’s and also booked some really cheap domestic China Flights. Clearly there are so many organised tourest routes that everyone knows about and goes to im going to speak of a few hidden treasures I found whilst travelling in Shanghai.
The first thing I was really excited to do as soon as I got there, was to visit the most famous landmark which of course is The Bund! Its such a beautifully tastefully renovated building, the architecture is outstanding! Once inside there is so much to do and see my advice is to spend the day meandering from shop to shop! There are a few that are not be missed:
1. Three on the Bund’s Terrace at New Heights (seventh floor)
2.Brunch or a drink at M on the Bund
3. The HSBC Buildings fully restored lobby
4. A walk through the renovated Art-Deco Peace hotel.

Another place that is oftern underestimated is the Moganshan Road art District, this is perfect for all you contemporary art lovers also if you want to sample some of Shanghai’s finest one off art pieces. This recently rejuvenated area has become a thriving epicentre for students and creators alike. Not only is it chocked full of art galleries but cool funky coffee shops and bars…… its a must!

Yu Garden and Bazaar is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon, it offers a real look at rural Shanghai and how it has progressed over the last 10 years. Here at Yu Garden you will find many interesting places to explore and see the whole area has been renovated, in a traditional chinese style with beautifully hand crafted architecture and stunning tiles that reek rural China! I spent a good four hours wandering up and down the idyllic lanes taking in the culture and all the colours, there are also many shops that stock any chinese memorabilia you can think of, chopsticks, jade and wooden Buddha’s its wonderful and very relaxing! If you get tired from walking about I there are many traditional tea shops the most famous of them being the Huxingting Tea House that was inspired by the design in the famous Blue Willow china pattern. Across the way is the entrance to
Yuyuan Garden itself where you can follow crowds through a classical Ming garden.
