Or you can take the express subway for 20 minutes and arrive at the center of Beijing (Dong Zhi Men). The ticket is RMB 25 yuan and the place to take the subway is parking lot B2 at Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Moreover, because the Beijing Capital Airport is too large, there are free buses or trains for you travelling between the three terminals.
When are travelling around the city, you can either take taxis, buses or subways which is more convenient and fast. For buses and subways, the most convenient and cheap way is to pay RMB 20 yuan for deposit and get a
Public Transit card. This card is similar to the Metro Card in New York. You can deposit some money in the card and use it to buy bus tickets, subway tickets, telephone, or even taxis. The benefits for this Public Transit Card are not only convenient, but also cheap. If you pay the bus tickets by this card, it will give you 60% off the original price. And it will save you a lot of time by exchanging coins to buy subway tickets. There are many places that you can get this transit cards easily at some large subway stations, like Xi Zhi Men.
For the tickets to visiting spots in Beijing, some are free and some are not. Free scenes are Tian’an Men Square, Chairman Mao’s memorial hall, 798 Arts Factory, Hou Hai (Lake), San Li Tun pub street, traditional Beijing architectures-Hu Tong, Silk market, Pan Jia Yuan (flea market for Chinese antiques). Other places that need tickets include Fragrant Hill (香山) to view
beautiful red leaves (not maple trees) for RMB 10 yuan. The prices for Forbidden City for RMB 60 yuan during hot season ( April to October) and RMB 40 yuan for flat season (November to March). In addition, the precious jewelry house and the clocks’ house need RMB 10 yuan respectively. The tickets for Summer Palace are RMB 20 yuan for entrance ticket and RMB 40 yuan for coupon ticket during the flat season (November to March) and RMB 30 yuan for entrance ticket and RMB 50 for coupon tickets during the busy season ( April to October). The coupon tickets include entrance ticket, Garden of Virtue and Harmony (Dehe Yuan) ticket (RMB 5 yuan), Pavilion of the Fragrance of Buddha ( Foxiang Ge) ticket (RMB 10 yuan) and Suzhou Street (RMB 10 yuan).
