Chinese people may seem a little rigid and overcautious in many westerners’ opinion. They would rather go home early than buy a liguor staying late in nightclubs. They could never become party-animals. However, if you have made a china travel, particularly Travel to Shanghai or Beijing, your stereotype could be completely changed.
Nowadays more and more bars, discos or nightclubs are coming up in China–this ancient and traditional land. In fact, in some big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi’an, Hangzhou, Changsha and so forth, nightlife has already become an essential part of local people’s lives. In today’s blog, I will take you to some most popular bars to see some most talented DJs as well as the latest party-events in Beijing.

Opened by the people behind one of Beijing’s best-loved nightclubs (Banana), Coco Banana drew on years of experience to make their opening night on April 2006 one of the most memorable events of the year. In terms of design and interior, Coco Banana has followed in the footsteps of its sister venue Banana and that of its neighbours on Gongti Xilu. The club has that cookie cutter feeling to it; big square bar strategically placed near the entrance, tables and chairs on the periphery of the dancefloor with booths taking up the back wall of the club. Where it does differ from other venues is in its size and its own sense of style. We like the go-go dancers-particularly the she/male who drips with funky attitude. We also like the podiums that make the dancers look like they’re strutting their stuff inside a water tank. Most of all we like the fact that after months of delays and speculation over their origianl opening date, Coco Banana kicked off with none other than dutch DJ Tiesto, one of the few DJs that chinese club-goers are familiar with making opening night the hottest ticket in town. Much like sister venue Banana, Coco Banana has the ability to draw people in seven nights a week and was even favoured by recent visitors the Black Eyed Peas.
Next time you are on your China Tours, come to these clubs and experience how nightlife in China really is!
