The regulations of different airlines vary. And the rules for international and domestic China Flights also are different. This information is needed to know before check-in at the airport, otherwise you may come across some problems later on. For example, when you Travel to Guangzhou these days, you may find the security will be quite tough because of the Asian Games from November 12th to 27th, 2010. Next I will give you some information of regulations in China airlines.
Luggage. For domestic flights in China, Each passenger can check in one
luggage for free and the weight should be within 23kg and one carry-on luggage whose size should be within 20*40*50 cm. For international flights, each passenger can have more check-in or carry-on luggage. If you are taking the international flights to China and then transfer to another city by connecting flights, you can check-in the extra luggage for free by showing your international flights boarding card to the counter. Similar to U.S. flights, the liquid is forbidden in carry-on luggage. If you have purchased some duty-free products with liquid, when you are taking the connecting flights within China, you should get these product sealed and show your receipt. For passengers with babies, they can notify the airlines to prepare liquid diary for babies on the plane when booking the tickets. For check-in luggage, the matches and lighters are also forbidden.
Boarding Time. The boarding time for most domestic flights is 30 minutes before the airplane taking off, and some flights may ask you to board 45 minutes earlier. But considering the traffic and some unexpected things, it is
better for you to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes earlier. For international flights, the boarding time should be at least 90 minutes in advance. There are some self check-in machines for domestic flights for some airlines, like China Southern Airlines. The passports are available on these machines which can save you a lot of time. In addition, you need to count the time for passing the security port, which may take some time if you have carried wrong things.
Customs. For non-Chinese citizens, the flight attendants will give you a form for declaration before landing. You need to fill in your nationality, passport number, gender, purpose of trip and details of belongings. Things that need to
be declared include money more than RMB 6000yuan, foreign currency more than 5000 US dollars, alcohol, tobaccos, seeds, fresh fruits, meat, etc. Two passageways are for non-citizens. The “Red” or declaration passageway is for people who have something to declare or do not know which to choose. The “green” or non-declaration passageway is for people who are certain nothing to declare. Recently, if you are entering mainland of China, like Shenzhen, from Hong Kong, it is quite possible that you will get thoroughly checked at the Customs. As the price differences of some electronic or luxury brand products, between mainland and Hong Kong, become larger and larger. Also this year, a large amount of cash, or Refugee Capital, is coming into mainland of China, the Customs for entering China is getting tougher. So check your package carefully and leave those forbidden stuff and extra cash at home, otherwise you would get some troubles at the Chinese Customs.
Because of the undergoing terrorists and inter-country crimes, the regulations for keeping air safety are becoming tougher and tougher. So make sure to check these rules of China Airlines and customs in advance. And doing this will give you more time to fix it and let your trip to China be more easy and comfortable.
