Busy Beijing Streets

Crossing the roads in Beijing in not the simplest of tasks as  one might think, it is more than simply looking left, right and then walking across the road – it becomes a skill or even an art. It is overwhelming at first because of the cars, bikes, rickshaws, and everything else are coming at you in all directions. Make sure you book with China Travel and China Tours to get the best out of this experience as well as having a safe and secure journey on your trip in China.

When taking a stroll down the busy streets of Beijing, in every corner, block or district, you will be bombarded with hundreds of people. There is never a time in Beijing when one street will be completely empty or clear of people as there are around 16 million people living in Beijing alone. This huge amount of people has led to hundreds of thousands of cars being moved around the main areas of the city. Everyday there seems to be an endless amount of cars everywhere but for taxis, don’t be surprised if you find this to be an exhausting task also.

When flagging down a taxi you’ll realise that the taxi will most likely stop for you when they have a better chance of succeeding. By this I mean a taxi will simply drive past with the trailing sea of cars speeding past and have no time to stop for you. In most cases, you stop one and have to be quick in informing the taxi driver of where you are going to otherwise at the loud sounds of car horns will head in your direction. Once in the taxi, hold onto your seats! Nothing applies more in Beijing that putting on your seatbelt will probably be the safest thing you can possible do. It amazes me how aware drivers are on the road because they are constantly looking around for cars in every direction and yet still manage to get around safely. It is impressive to say the least that taxis drive so close to each other and manage to get by on the road, although it makes sense when the cars move at 5mph most of the time due to heavy traffic.

Bikes are popular in China also and statistics reveal that there are even more bikes in China than there are people in some countries! A lot of people ride bikes on the busy streets as a way of getting around and you are bound to be barraged with a storm of bike riders similarly to cars in Beijing.

This is an experience in itself so be aware and once you’ll have mastered the art of crossing roads in Beijing it will be second nature! If you are eager to come to Beijing then I would definitely recommend using China Flights to book your flights and China Hotels to organise your accommodation. They are very reliable and will make your trip a whole lot easier so book today!
