This August my friend James is coming from the U.S to visit me in Beijing. After touring in Beijing, he said let’s go to Shanghai to see the Expo. I thought it was a good idea because the Expo only runs until the end of this October and this should part of his China Tours. But as a student living in Beijing for the last 5 years, I never went to Shanghai once and have no knowledge of this city. When I felt frustrated, suddenly a thought popped up. We can do it through a travel agency. Then I began to look online. There were hundreds of travel agencies in Beijing. Which one should I choose? Afterwards, my friend told me this was the best china travel that he ever had.
For a long time, I began to know China Youth Travel Service for its reputation. So I just went online and find their websites. I compare their prices with the prices from some other travel agencies online. I found a lot of good comments online about their service too. So I just chose one in which the time fits us well and called the agency to consult about their tour package.
The person who answered my phone was a woman and she was really very polite. She answered patiently on my questions about the transportation, the hotel, the travel insurance, etc. After we have made the deal, I felt relaxed because I have nothing to worry about but just to wait until the day is coming.
When we arrived in Shanghai, we saw the person who came to pick us up and he brought us to the hotel directly which was a good hotel. The room was clean and nice. After a long time of resting, we start out for our Shanghai tour. We have been to the Expo easily because we were with a group by which we have avoided a lot of trouble.
After we had seen the Shanghai Expo, we went to see the traditional part of Shanghai. From the tourist guide, we have learnt a lot about the history of the city. We also went to the famous tea house and had some Xiaolongbao there. We had tasted the delicious Shanghai snacks.
After we had spent two days in Shanghai, we headed for Hangzhou which is about one hour from Shanghai. This is really a beautiful city. We took a cruise on the West Lake and listened to the romantic love story which happened on this lake. We have tasted some traditional Hangzhou food and went to one of the biggest temples in China. In one of its big gardens, we have seen a kind of bamboo which is very different. When you see it from certain distance, you would think it is round. But when you come closer and touch the bamboo, you will find the bamboo is rectangle. It was very interesting. The tour to Hangzhou had left us a very good impression because we really had seen a lot of the city and learned a lot too.
