I was very excited to be finally visiting Tiananmen square, over the years I’ve read and seen so many pictures about Tiananmen Square obviously about the massacre of 1989 but also about all the festival and paradise that go on there. As I walked in it did not disappoint it is 15 RMB entry but well worth it.The square is located in the heart of Beijing city making it very easy to get to however there are many great tours at a very low cost the best company I’ve found is China Tours.
The walk up to the main square is very pleasant surrounded by towering tree’s and small grassy area’s it’s very picturesque. I think it really helped that we had great weather the whole time we were there!! After about 5 minuets we made it up to the main gates as I entered the square although I could see beautiful embellished ornate objects and brightly coloured buildings iI couldn’t help thinking it felt somewhat erie.

The Square itself is a vast space with not much to see however it was amazing to stand at on the top steps and look out onto the square. Tiananmen square has been named the largest square of its kind in the world! Walking further past the main square there is a procession of large elaborate halls sadly you can’t go inside any of them.
As I entered the next section we were treated to seeing a wedding photoshoot the bride was wearing a stunning red dress and the groom a tradditional Chinese wedding suit they looked breath taking as the sun shone down reflecting from the intricate delicate detail on the brides dress ………. what a sight!!!

It was moments away from sunset so I swiftly went to the main square so I could see the sunrise lowering ceremony of the Chinese National Flag which is well worth the watching. The precision of the young troops is very well performed and really exciting. Go there about 30 minutes early to get a good seat. This was the highlight of my day I would defiantly recommend it to anyone visiting the square late afternoon.

My visit to Tiananmen Square took about 1hrs in a half I would recommend getting a tour as there is so much interesting history to learn and walking through alone this can sometimes be missed for good a tour in Tianaman Square look on china travel or if you would like to see more amazing tours in Beijing go on Beijing Tours.
