We all know that the suitable seasons for Three Gorges Tour are spring and autumn in China Tours. And the most part of our travel fares are spent on accommodation and transportation. So, here I want to share my personal experience about these.

How to go there and which kind of transport should you take? Undoubtedly, it is the China Airlines. And there are two airports.

Jiangbei Airport, Chongqing

Chongqing is a city with mountainous area. So traveling by plane is a safe and effective way. And Chongqing has direct flights to more than 40 cities in the country. After the end of trip to Chongqing, you can fly directly to Urumqi, Xinjiang; Kunming, Yunnan; Lhasa, Tibet to continue your trip to southwest.

Moreover, Jiangbei Airport is in Two-road Town, Yubei, Chongqing, where is 23 km away from the downtown. And there are highways directly access to the city center. You can get special car of Civil Aviation sent to the Jiangbei Airport in Fire Station near Shangqing Temple.

Three Gorges Airport, Yichang

Three Gorges Airport has opened 20 domestic routes, involving Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Chongqing, Shandong, Henan and other developed open city. Today, the Three Gorges Airport has become one of the important tourist airports domestically and also the important airport that served for the Three Gorges Project.

By the way, Three Gorges Airport is 26 km away from the city. You can take a taxi to there. And its airport shuttle bus starts off from Qingjiang Hotel 2 hours before the flight taking off.

Things above are the ways for your arrival. Next is about your way on the trip.

Water transport

It is strongly recommended and common to go for a sail and go sightseeing when pulling in to the scenic shore. The advantage of this is that you can leave the transport, accommodation, catering to the cruise ships staff. This could remove the pain to run around and the trouble to find a hotel firstly when arriving at each place so that you can get a more relaxing trip in the whole process. Surely ships pull in to each scenic shore along Yangtze River.

People who take the Three Gorges Cruises usually select the “Chongqing – Yichang (or Yichang – Chongqing)” section, stopping along the way Fuling, Fengdu, Zhong County, Wanzhou, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wushan and Badong, Mau Ping and so on. Ordinary cruise is divided into five grades of shipping space, ranging from state-space until ordinary seats. And the full fares vary from 180 yuan (ordinary seat) to 2,100 yuan (state) and the fare includes admission tickets as well as some shore scenic spots. In addition, the Three Gorges navigation lines have some luxury cruise ship routes, such as the Victoria series, the Yangtze Angel series, Yangtze Princess series and so on. They have more luxurious facilities, including meals on board. Of course, fares are more expensive. The whole tour itinerary generally takes about 3 days (due to the 1 day difference between fair current and counter current).

Notes: Cruise fares and journey time for upstream and downstream water vary, so in the same range, it is normal that ticket prices and sailing time between downstream and upstream sailing are different. Generally price for downstream sailing is higher than the upstream while upstream sailing takes one more day than downstream sailing.(of the Three Gorges section).

Where should we get accommodation?

The most comfortable way to visit the Three Gorges is by cruise ship to enjoy the river view and you can land every scenic spot. It makes you not only remove from the daily pain of change to find another hotel but also enjoy a different landscape out of the window for each day.

Cruises have different prices and soft hardware facilities for their various classes and shipping space. Luxury cruise ships, such as the Victoria series, the Yangtze River series, the Ambassador series, look like the moving water luxury hotel, facilities comparable to the star hotels, comfortable and convenient with no major differences in the land of life. Of course, you have to pay a lot. The whole price (Chongqing – Yichang section, 3 days) is about 2000 – 3000 yuan (Standard Room mid-price), including restaurants and attractions tickets. Due to the different ordinary space and facilities, prices in ordinary cruises vary greatly and do not include meals on board.
