1. Travelling in Australia

Australia lies in the Oceanic Continent between the South Pacific and Indian Oceans. Its neighboring areas include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the north, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu to the northeast, and New Zealand to the southeast. The shortest border distance is between Papua New Guinea and Australia at about five kilometers. As the world’s sixth-largest county with 7.68million square kilometers, Australia measures 4000 kilometers east to west and 3,200 kilometers north to south. Its population is 19.5 million. The bulk of the population lives on the narrow, fertile eastern coastal plain and the southeastern coast. Australia has 8 administrative divisions: 6 state and 2 territories. Canberra is the capital city. Other important cities include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Hobart.

The real attraction of Australia is its striking natural wonders and harshly beautiful scenery, but its modern civilization has its own appeal as seen in the fascination blend of European and Asian elements. There are more than 200 species of native birds, mammals and reptiles in the largest collection of Austrian wildlife. They are displayed in a beautiful bush land setting. We’ll explore the fern gullies, wetlands and forests of the sanctuary and also a diversity of Australian animals in their natural settings. We’ll see the Tasmanian Devils, the frog bog, the platypus and wallabies and also the wombat show and the birds of prey if we are lucky.

The Eiffel Tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889 commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. Walk up this metal monstrosity, and don’t take the cable car, you can get a real feel for its history and magnitude. Before the Palace Charles de Gaulle, lies the Arc de Triomphe. Construction on the Arch began in 1806, restarted in 1825, and was not finished until 1836. It is built on the model of ancient Triumphal Arches with a monumental size: 50meters tall and 45 meters wide.

The Pyramids at Giza, part of a massive necropolis attached to the ancient capital of Memphis, are the sole survivors of the Seven Wonders of the World and the planet’s oldest tourist attraction. Built by successive generation of phataohs, they were already more than 2500 years old at the time of the birth if Jesus Christ. The Great Pyramid of Khufu stood 146m high when it was competed around 2600BC. About 2.3 million limestone blocks, weighing around 2.5 tones each, were used in the construction of this giant. Although there is not much to see inside the pyramid, the experience of climbing through such an ancient structure is unforgettable. Along the eastern and southern sides of the pyramid are five long pits that once contained the pharaoh’s boats. Southwest of Khufu is the Pyramid of Khafre. At a height of 62 m, the Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest of the three pyramids.
