The first day: Autumn’ Memory in Beijing
The first station of this trip is the Summer Palace. It is one of the favorite places among tourists sightseeing in Beijing. Indeed, it is one of the best parks in the city. Originally it was a retreat for emperors to escape the scorching summer heat of Beijing. The Summer Palace was used by emperors for 800 years, but fell into disuse in the 18th century. Then in the 19th century, the Empress Dowager Cixi made massive renovations and restored many buildings using money funneled out from the state treasury. The second station is Fragrance Hill. In autumn, the most beautiful spots in Beijing is Fragrance Hill(香山)，located in Haidian district, in Beijing. It’s the famous forest park in Beijing, with an area of 160 hectares. In autumn, the maple trees are full of red leaves, as red as the firelight. Most of trees were planted in Qing dynasty, and now they are 200 years old. In October to November every year, the leaves turn into red, so October is the perfect season for Fragrance Hill. Many tourists take their sleep bags and go camping here, enjoy the beautiful night scene and the fresh air. You can also take photos here and surely the pictures will be beautiful. On Fragrance Hill, there are also other attractions, Fragrance Hill Temple(香山寺), Yanjing Lake（眼镜湖）, and so on. You can get there by bus, No.318, 360, and so on; or by taxi.
The second day: Beijing Post-Olympic Memories
The first station is The National Stadium; also know as the Bird’s Nest. It is one of the major gyms in Beijing. The opening ceremony of 29th Olympic Games was held here and hundreds of thousands athletes, officials, and audiences attended the great event. The second famous one is Water Cube – National Swimming Center. Both of them are the most popular ones among tourists.
The third day: Ancient Hutong(胡同) Tour
Hutong is one of the characteristics of Ancient Beijing; it is a kind of alley between courtyards. There are thousands of Hutongs in Beijing, and all those have their own names, usually special and meaningful ones. In the most cases, they are named by some famous and big people’ names, by unique buildings, or special terrain, etc.Hutong is the unique of Beijing ancient culture, you had better go along on foot or by bike, so that you can enjoy the peaceful life of Beijing local people, and appreciate the special culture.
